A little chance. A lot of possibilities.

Random Number 1–2

This random number 1–2 wheel starts with every whole number from 1 through 2, including both endpoints. There are 2 distinct entries, each with a one-in-2 chance before the list changes. It is useful for two numbered containers, where you already have a clear number-to-item mapping. Select Spin the wheel to reveal a number, or edit the range controls if your task requires different bounds. The number is selected locally in your browser; no account or uploaded spreadsheet is required.

Weighted mode: write each line as Option | 3. Weights are whole numbers from 1 to 1000. Move a single entry by cutting and pasting its line.

Saving the same title replaces that saved copy. Links include your exact entries; share public text only. Local saves can be cleared by your browser.

Equal chance for every entry. Repeated labels count as separate entries.

How to use this wheel

  1. Review the preset entries and replace any labels that do not fit your random number 1–2 activity.
  2. Check the displayed entry count, duplicate lines and removal setting before starting.
  3. Select Spin the wheel, wait for the reveal and read the result in the dialog.
  4. Copy the result if you need a record, then close the dialog or start another round.

A practical use for 1–2

Label the containers 1 and 2 before hiding a token. The result chooses the container to inspect, not whether a statement is true. A two-value range is numerically equivalent to a fair binary choice, but the labels remain numbers. Use a yes-or-no preset for an actual yes/no question.

Understand the 2-value distribution

With the untouched preset, the chance of any particular value is 1/2, approximately 50 percent. There are 1 even values and 1 odd values in this range. Therefore an even result has probability 1/2, while an odd result has probability 1/2. Those group probabilities count how many eligible labels belong to each group; the tool does not favor odd or even values intentionally. Several repeats can occur by chance when removal is off.

Choose independent draws or a sequence of 2

Leave Remove winner off when every draw should begin with all 2 possible labels. Turn it on when each number may appear at most once during a run. After one removal, the remaining entries each have a one-in-1 chance, rather than the original one-in-2 chance. Save the full starting list before drawing a long sequence, and use Reset preset to restore it. The recent-results display is temporary and is not an exported audit record.

Change the interval without changing the meaning

The Minimum and Maximum fields define an inclusive integer interval. Apply range replaces the entry box with every integer in that interval and turns weights off. Review the resulting count before spinning. You can also delete unavailable labels manually to make a non-consecutive set, but its size then determines the odds. Shuffling or reversing the order changes the visual arrangement, not the equal chance assigned to each remaining line.

Read the numeric label literally

The result is an integer label. It does not rank the selected item, evaluate quality or infer a preferred answer. Keep your external mapping visible when other people need to interpret the draw.

Use numbers for a two-container game

Place two clearly numbered containers in fixed positions. One participant can prepare a harmless hidden-object activity while another uses the result to decide which container to inspect. The number-to-position mapping must stay fixed throughout the round. If the containers move, either keep the labels attached or restate the mapping before another draw.

For a simple A/B creative test, decide which version is 1 and which is 2 before spinning. This can select which mockup to discuss first, but it is not a statistical experiment or evidence that one version is better. If the outcome is meant to answer a yes/no question, the dedicated yes-or-no tool provides more direct labels.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 1–2 draw like a coin flip?

For equal independent outcomes, yes: each label has one-half probability. Define what 1 and 2 mean before selecting.

Can I label two physical containers with this result?

Yes. Attach 1 and 2 to the containers and keep that mapping stable. The wheel cannot see or track the objects.

Does drawing 2 mean version B is better?

No. A random assignment or order does not evaluate quality. It only chooses the label you mapped to version B.

How many draws exhaust a no-repeat 1–2 pool?

Two draws, when each label appears once and removal is enabled. The second draw then has only the remaining label.
