A little chance. A lot of possibilities.

Mystery Wheel

The mystery wheel hides its segment labels behind question marks until a result is revealed. The starting options are friendly surprises for a casual group game, and the host can replace them in the entry box. Hidden wheel labels create suspense, but they do not encrypt the options: the editor and any shared link still contain the full list. Use this preset for a small surprise activity where participants have agreed on the kinds of outcomes that may appear.

Weighted mode: write each line as Option | 3. Weights are whole numbers from 1 to 1000. Move a single entry by cutting and pasting its line.

Saving the same title replaces that saved copy. Links include your exact entries; share public text only. Local saves can be cleared by your browser.

Equal chance for every entry. Repeated labels count as separate entries.

How to use this wheel

  1. Review the preset entries and replace any labels that do not fit your mystery activity.
  2. Check the displayed entry count, duplicate lines and removal setting before starting.
  3. Select Spin the wheel, wait for the reveal and read the result in the dialog.
  4. Copy the result if you need a record, then close the dialog or start another round.

Prepare surprises with clear boundaries

Agree what kinds of surprises are acceptable before adding the options. Keep them safe, affordable and easy to decline. Examples include choosing the next song, picking a snack or taking a bonus game turn. Avoid outcomes that expose private information or pressure someone into an unwanted activity. A mystery should be playful because of the reveal, not because the host concealed an important condition.

Hide the presentation, not the rules

The wheel itself shows question marks, while the entry box remains editable and readable. On a shared display, position the tool so participants focus on the wheel during the spin. Do not describe this as a secret vault: anyone with the link can decode its entries. If prizes have different values, publish the relevant selection rules even when individual labels stay hidden during play.

Use removal to create a sequence of discoveries

Enabling winner removal reveals each starting entry at most once, provided there are no duplicate labels. This works for a short sequence of surprise activities. Leave removal off when repeats are part of the game. Save an untouched host copy before the first draw, especially if you want to reset the surprise list for another group.

Give each reveal enough time

After the modal appears, read the result aloud and check that the group understands it. Complete or decline the activity before starting the next spin. Rapid repeated draws can make a mystery session confusing, particularly when the same label is allowed to recur. A simple written tally is useful if several results affect points, turns or prize inventory.

Frequently asked questions

Are the mystery entries encrypted?

No. Question marks hide the labels visually on the wheel only. The entry box, saved wheel data and share link all contain the actual text. Do not use this presentation mode to protect confidential information or security-sensitive secrets.

Can I use my own surprise outcomes?

Yes. Replace the default activities with one outcome per line. Keep the labels specific enough to act on after the reveal, and make sure participants consent to the possible kinds of activity before the game starts.

Does hiding the labels affect the chances?

No. Hidden labels change the display, not the selection algorithm. Equal mode gives each entry one chance; weighted mode deliberately changes those chances according to the numbers you assign. Removal changes eligibility for later spins.

Can the same surprise appear twice?

It can when removal is off or when a label occurs on multiple lines. For a one-time reveal of every distinct surprise, remove duplicate labels and enable winner removal before you begin. Restore your saved master copy for a new session.
