Random Number 1–4
This random number 1–4 wheel starts with every whole number from 1 through 4, including both endpoints. There are 4 distinct entries, each with a one-in-4 chance before the list changes. It is useful for four practice stations, where you already have a clear number-to-item mapping. Select Spin the wheel to reveal a number, or edit the range controls if your task requires different bounds. The number is selected locally in your browser; no account or uploaded spreadsheet is required.
Your entries
4 entriesEach die rolls independently. The wheel shows the first die; the result lists every die and the total. Keep the face entries unchanged.
Equal chance for every entry. Repeated labels count as separate entries.
How to use this wheel
- Review the preset entries and replace any labels that do not fit your random number 1–4 activity.
- Check the displayed entry count, duplicate lines and removal setting before starting.
- Select Spin the wheel, wait for the reveal and read the result in the dialog.
- Copy the result if you need a record, then close the dialog or start another round.
A practical use for 1–4
Number four activity stations clockwise. A draw selects a starting station; rotate groups systematically afterward if everyone must visit all four. Four choices can encode two independent binary attributes, but the wheel selects one combined label. Write the mapping down first so 1, 2, 3 and 4 have unambiguous meanings.
Understand the 4-value distribution
With the untouched preset, the chance of any particular value is 1/4, approximately 25 percent. There are 2 even values and 2 odd values in this range. Therefore an even result has probability 2/4, while an odd result has probability 2/4. Those group probabilities count how many eligible labels belong to each group; the tool does not favor odd or even values intentionally. Several repeats can occur by chance when removal is off.
Choose independent draws or a sequence of 4
Leave Remove winner off when every draw should begin with all 4 possible labels. Turn it on when each number may appear at most once during a run. After one removal, the remaining entries each have a one-in-3 chance, rather than the original one-in-4 chance. Save the full starting list before drawing a long sequence, and use Reset preset to restore it. The recent-results display is temporary and is not an exported audit record.
Change the interval without changing the meaning
The Minimum and Maximum fields define an inclusive integer interval. Apply range replaces the entry box with every integer in that interval and turns weights off. Review the resulting count before spinning. You can also delete unavailable labels manually to make a non-consecutive set, but its size then determines the odds. Shuffling or reversing the order changes the visual arrangement, not the equal chance assigned to each remaining line.
Read the numeric label literally
The result is an integer label. It does not rank the selected item, evaluate quality or infer a preferred answer. Keep your external mapping visible when other people need to interpret the draw.
Map four stations without confusing the route
For an activity circuit, number stations consistently around the space. The selected number can choose a starting station, while a separate clockwise rotation makes sure a group visits all four. Randomly choosing every move could revisit a station and miss another, so it is a different activity from a complete circuit.
You can also encode two binary attributes: 1 for red/small, 2 for red/large, 3 for blue/small and 4 for blue/large. With all four combinations once, each color and size has equal marginal probability. Write the table down before drawing. Adding a second red/small line would alter both the combined and grouped probabilities.
Frequently asked questions
Can four labels represent two binary attributes?
Yes. List each of the four distinct combinations once and keep a clear lookup table.
Does the station result plan a complete circuit?
No. It can select the starting station. A complete rotation needs its own route and timing rules.
What is the chance of a value above 2?
Two of the four values qualify, so the probability is two-fourths, or one-half.
Can I draw four different starting positions?
Enable removal and draw once per position. Record the assignments separately; the tool does not attach numbers to participant names.
