A little chance. A lot of possibilities.

Random Number 1–6

This random number 1–6 wheel starts with every whole number from 1 through 6, including both endpoints. There are 6 distinct entries, each with a one-in-6 chance before the list changes. It is useful for six indexed outcomes, where you already have a clear number-to-item mapping. Select Spin the wheel to reveal a number, or edit the range controls if your task requires different bounds. The number is selected locally in your browser; no account or uploaded spreadsheet is required.

Weighted mode: write each line as Option | 3. Weights are whole numbers from 1 to 1000. Move a single entry by cutting and pasting its line.

Saving the same title replaces that saved copy. Links include your exact entries; share public text only. Local saves can be cleared by your browser.

How to use this wheel

  1. Review the preset entries and replace any labels that do not fit your random number 1–6 activity.
  2. Check the displayed entry count, duplicate lines and removal setting before starting.
  3. Select Spin the wheel, wait for the reveal and read the result in the dialog.
  4. Copy the result if you need a record, then close the dialog or start another round.

A practical use for 1–6

Use six numbers to select a rule from a six-row table. Keep the table visible so everyone can check how the number becomes an action. A uniform 1–6 draw matches a single fair d6 in distribution. For adding two dice, use the dedicated 2d6 roller: a uniform 2–12 total would give the wrong probabilities.

Understand the 6-value distribution

With the untouched preset, the chance of any particular value is 1/6, approximately 16.6667 percent. There are 3 even values and 3 odd values in this range. Therefore an even result has probability 3/6, while an odd result has probability 3/6. Those group probabilities count how many eligible labels belong to each group; the tool does not favor odd or even values intentionally. Several repeats can occur by chance when removal is off.

Choose independent draws or a sequence of 6

Leave Remove winner off when every draw should begin with all 6 possible labels. Turn it on when each number may appear at most once during a run. After one removal, the remaining entries each have a one-in-5 chance, rather than the original one-in-6 chance. Save the full starting list before drawing a long sequence, and use Reset preset to restore it. The recent-results display is temporary and is not an exported audit record.

Change the interval without changing the meaning

The Minimum and Maximum fields define an inclusive integer interval. Apply range replaces the entry box with every integer in that interval and turns weights off. Review the resulting count before spinning. You can also delete unavailable labels manually to make a non-consecutive set, but its size then determines the odds. Shuffling or reversing the order changes the visual arrangement, not the equal chance assigned to each remaining line.

Read the numeric label literally

The result is an integer label. It does not rank the selected item, evaluate quality or infer a preferred answer. Keep your external mapping visible when other people need to interpret the draw.

Choose between an index draw and a dice action

If the activity asks for one uniform number from one through six, this preset is sufficient. If it asks for two d6 faces, a total and a modifier, use the dice roller so the operation remains explicit. The distinction matters because two independent six-sided rolls have a different sum distribution from a uniform interval.

For a six-row instruction table, keep the table beside the wheel and make each row’s action suitable before the draw. A result of six selects row six; it does not automatically mean success, maximum effort or an extra turn. Any special meaning belongs to the rules you announce, and should remain the same across participants.

Frequently asked questions

Does 1–6 have the same single-roll distribution as d6?

Yes, when all six labels occur once with equal weights. The dedicated dice tool adds dice counts, modifiers and arithmetic.

Can this replace a 2d6 sum?

No. Use two independent d6 rolls. Uniformly choosing a total would give incorrect probabilities.

What is the chance of a value greater than 4?

The eligible values are 5 and 6, so the chance is two-sixths, or one-third.

Does selecting 6 automatically give an extra turn?

Only if your own game rules say so. The number picker does not apply board-game rules.
