Random Number 1–5
This random number 1–5 wheel starts with every whole number from 1 through 5, including both endpoints. There are 5 distinct entries, each with a one-in-5 chance before the list changes. It is useful for five review exercises, where you already have a clear number-to-item mapping. Select Spin the wheel to reveal a number, or edit the range controls if your task requires different bounds. The number is selected locally in your browser; no account or uploaded spreadsheet is required.
Your entries
5 entriesEach die rolls independently. The wheel shows the first die; the result lists every die and the total. Keep the face entries unchanged.
Equal chance for every entry. Repeated labels count as separate entries.
How to use this wheel
- Review the preset entries and replace any labels that do not fit your random number 1–5 activity.
- Check the displayed entry count, duplicate lines and removal setting before starting.
- Select Spin the wheel, wait for the reveal and read the result in the dialog.
- Copy the result if you need a record, then close the dialog or start another round.
A practical use for 1–5
Assign one number to each of five review exercises. Keep exercise difficulty comparable when the result chooses a short warm-up for the whole group. This is not a random star rating. A uniformly drawn integer does not evaluate quality, satisfaction or performance; it simply identifies one of five labels.
Understand the 5-value distribution
With the untouched preset, the chance of any particular value is 1/5, approximately 20 percent. There are 2 even values and 3 odd values in this range. Therefore an even result has probability 2/5, while an odd result has probability 3/5. Those group probabilities count how many eligible labels belong to each group; the tool does not favor odd or even values intentionally. Several repeats can occur by chance when removal is off.
Choose independent draws or a sequence of 5
Leave Remove winner off when every draw should begin with all 5 possible labels. Turn it on when each number may appear at most once during a run. After one removal, the remaining entries each have a one-in-4 chance, rather than the original one-in-5 chance. Save the full starting list before drawing a long sequence, and use Reset preset to restore it. The recent-results display is temporary and is not an exported audit record.
Change the interval without changing the meaning
The Minimum and Maximum fields define an inclusive integer interval. Apply range replaces the entry box with every integer in that interval and turns weights off. Review the resulting count before spinning. You can also delete unavailable labels manually to make a non-consecutive set, but its size then determines the odds. Shuffling or reversing the order changes the visual arrangement, not the equal chance assigned to each remaining line.
Read the numeric label literally
The result is an integer label. It does not rank the selected item, evaluate quality or infer a preferred answer. Keep your external mapping visible when other people need to interpret the draw.
Choose a review exercise without inventing a score
Prepare five named exercises on a worksheet and number them in a visible order. A spin can select the next example for shared practice. If the examples vary greatly in length or difficulty, the organizer should decide whether that variation suits the session before drawing. Equal selection chances do not make the exercises equally demanding.
A 1–5 result can also choose which of five creative drafts receives feedback first. It should not be described as a rating of the selected draft. Ratings require a person or process to assess something; a random integer contains no information about quality. Keep the output label separate from any later feedback or evaluation.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a five-star rating generator?
It can output a number from one to five, but that random number does not measure quality or satisfaction.
Can five exercises be drawn in a random order?
Yes. Include each number once, enable removal and map every result to the corresponding exercise.
What is the probability of selecting 1 or 5?
There are two qualifying labels among five equal entries, giving two-fifths, or forty percent.
Should easier exercises get duplicate numbers?
Only if you intentionally want larger combined chances. For equal exercise selection, keep one entry per exercise.
