A little chance. A lot of possibilities.

Random Number 1–12

This random number 1–12 wheel starts with every whole number from 1 through 12, including both endpoints. There are 12 distinct entries, each with a one-in-12 chance before the list changes. It is useful for twelve clock-face positions, where you already have a clear number-to-item mapping. Select Spin the wheel to reveal a number, or edit the range controls if your task requires different bounds. The number is selected locally in your browser; no account or uploaded spreadsheet is required.

Weighted mode: write each line as Option | 3. Weights are whole numbers from 1 to 1000. Move a single entry by cutting and pasting its line.

Saving the same title replaces that saved copy. Links include your exact entries; share public text only. Local saves can be cleared by your browser.

Equal chance for every entry. Repeated labels count as separate entries.

How to use this wheel

  1. Review the preset entries and replace any labels that do not fit your random number 1–12 activity.
  2. Check the displayed entry count, duplicate lines and removal setting before starting.
  3. Select Spin the wheel, wait for the reveal and read the result in the dialog.
  4. Copy the result if you need a record, then close the dialog or start another round.

A practical use for 1–12

Use twelve labels for clock-face directions in a spatial game. Decide whether 12 means straight ahead and explain the mapping before selecting. The range has twelve integer values, not twelve hours of scheduling availability. A random label does not check calendar conflicts or allocate a real appointment.

Understand the 12-value distribution

With the untouched preset, the chance of any particular value is 1/12, approximately 8.33333 percent. There are 6 even values and 6 odd values in this range. Therefore an even result has probability 6/12, while an odd result has probability 6/12. Those group probabilities count how many eligible labels belong to each group; the tool does not favor odd or even values intentionally. Several repeats can occur by chance when removal is off.

Choose independent draws or a sequence of 12

Leave Remove winner off when every draw should begin with all 12 possible labels. Turn it on when each number may appear at most once during a run. After one removal, the remaining entries each have a one-in-11 chance, rather than the original one-in-12 chance. Save the full starting list before drawing a long sequence, and use Reset preset to restore it. The recent-results display is temporary and is not an exported audit record.

Change the interval without changing the meaning

The Minimum and Maximum fields define an inclusive integer interval. Apply range replaces the entry box with every integer in that interval and turns weights off. Review the resulting count before spinning. You can also delete unavailable labels manually to make a non-consecutive set, but its size then determines the odds. Shuffling or reversing the order changes the visual arrangement, not the equal chance assigned to each remaining line.

Read the numeric label literally

The result is an integer label. It does not rank the selected item, evaluate quality or infer a preferred answer. Keep your external mapping visible when other people need to interpret the draw.

Define clock positions as labels rather than appointments

For a spatial prompt, assign twelve to straight ahead, three to the right, six behind and nine to the left. The remaining labels fill the intermediate directions. That is a convention for your activity, not a compass reading: the wheel does not sense orientation or track where a device is pointing.

A twelve-month creative exercise is another possible mapping. Assign January through December to the numbers before drawing, then use the selected month as a writing or research prompt. It does not choose a real appointment or check whether a date is valid. Keep year-specific dates, availability and deadlines in a proper planning process rather than inferring them from a month label.

Frequently asked questions

Can 1–12 represent clock directions?

Yes, if you define the orientation. The tool does not measure direction or the position of a device.

Can I use it to select a month?

Yes. Map the twelve numbers to months explicitly. It does not generate a complete calendar date.

What is the chance of selecting a multiple of 3?

The qualifying values are 3, 6, 9 and 12, so the probability is four-twelfths, or one-third.

Does selecting a clock label reserve that time?

No. Scheduling and availability are outside the wheel.
