Random Number 1–20
This random number 1–20 wheel starts with every whole number from 1 through 20, including both endpoints. There are 20 distinct entries, each with a one-in-20 chance before the list changes. It is useful for twenty numbered prompts, where you already have a clear number-to-item mapping. Select Spin the wheel to reveal a number, or edit the range controls if your task requires different bounds. The number is selected locally in your browser; no account or uploaded spreadsheet is required.
Your entries
20 entriesEach die rolls independently. The wheel shows the first die; the result lists every die and the total. Keep the face entries unchanged.
Equal chance for every entry. Repeated labels count as separate entries.
How to use this wheel
- Review the preset entries and replace any labels that do not fit your random number 1–20 activity.
- Check the displayed entry count, duplicate lines and removal setting before starting.
- Select Spin the wheel, wait for the reveal and read the result in the dialog.
- Copy the result if you need a record, then close the dialog or start another round.
A practical use for 1–20
Prepare a twenty-row prompt table and read the row matching the result. Use the d20 tool instead when you need dice notation and a modifier. The chance of 20 is the same as the chance of 1. A highest value may have a special game meaning, but that meaning comes from your rules rather than the random-number generator.
Understand the 20-value distribution
With the untouched preset, the chance of any particular value is 1/20, approximately 5 percent. There are 10 even values and 10 odd values in this range. Therefore an even result has probability 10/20, while an odd result has probability 10/20. Those group probabilities count how many eligible labels belong to each group; the tool does not favor odd or even values intentionally. Several repeats can occur by chance when removal is off.
Choose independent draws or a sequence of 20
Leave Remove winner off when every draw should begin with all 20 possible labels. Turn it on when each number may appear at most once during a run. After one removal, the remaining entries each have a one-in-19 chance, rather than the original one-in-20 chance. Save the full starting list before drawing a long sequence, and use Reset preset to restore it. The recent-results display is temporary and is not an exported audit record.
Change the interval without changing the meaning
The Minimum and Maximum fields define an inclusive integer interval. Apply range replaces the entry box with every integer in that interval and turns weights off. Review the resulting count before spinning. You can also delete unavailable labels manually to make a non-consecutive set, but its size then determines the odds. Shuffling or reversing the order changes the visual arrangement, not the equal chance assigned to each remaining line.
Read the numeric label literally
The result is an integer label. It does not rank the selected item, evaluate quality or infer a preferred answer. Keep your external mapping visible when other people need to interpret the draw.
Choose a numbered prompt or an actual d20 operation
A twenty-row prompt table maps directly to this range when every row is eligible. Prepare the table before the draw and check that row numbers are continuous. If a row is unsuitable, remove its number from the pool rather than keeping it and repeatedly ignoring the result. A gap in the edited list is acceptable when intentional.
For tabletop mechanics, the dedicated d20 roller makes raw faces and modifiers explicit. This numbered wheel simply selects a label. It does not compare a total with a difficulty target or decide what a natural twenty means in your game. Follow the relevant game’s rule and distinguish the unmodified face from an adjusted total when that distinction matters.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the dedicated d20 dice tool?
No. It is a numeric preset. Use D20 Roller for dice count, modifiers and displayed arithmetic.
What is the chance of selecting 20?
One-twentieth, or five percent, with the untouched equal-entry list.
Can I exclude one unsuitable prompt row?
Yes. Delete that row’s number. The remaining nineteen labels then each have one-nineteenth chance.
Does 20 automatically mean success?
No. Any success rule comes from your activity or game, not the selected integer itself.
